Pininfarina is celebrating its 90th anniversary with a special version of the Batista electric hypercar.

Pininfarina's Batista has yet to go into production, but the electric hypercar has already spawned its first special version, the Anniversario.

The car unveiled on Tuesday commemorates Pininfarina's founding 90 years ago and is limited to five units priced at 2.6 million euros ($2.9 million) each. It should be noted that Batista's total production runs to 150 units, 50 of which are destined for North America.

The Batista Anniversario comes with a unique aerodynamic package and forged aluminum wheels with performance-oriented tires for better performance on the racetrack than the regular model.

This aerodynamic package, dubbed Furiosa, is also offered to buyers of the regular Batista and includes a new splitter, side blades and rear diffuser design. The new wheel design also contributes to a weight reduction of about 22 pounds compared to the standard design.

The car also boasts a unique heritage-inspired livery and an engraved plaque on the chassis that marks its special place in Pininfarina's long history.

Like all Batistas, the Batista Anniversario is powered by a four-engine powertrain from Rimac with 1,877 hp and 1,696 lb-ft of torque. can expect to accelerate to 186 km/h in less than 12 seconds and a top speed of 217 km/h. Pininfarina also claims that the car with a monstrous 120 kWh battery pack will have a range of 280 miles, provided the speed limit is maintained.

The Batista prototype is currently undergoing testing, with former Formula One driver and current Formula E driver for Pininfarina's parent company Mahindra, Nick Heidfeld, as its chief test driver. René Vollmann, who worked on the One hypercar for Mercedes-AMG before joining Pininfarina, is also helping with development. Vollmann was appointed Pininfarina's director of sports car development.

Production of the Batista takes place at the headquarters of Pininfarina's design and coachbuilding department in Cambiano, Italy. Prices for the production Batista will start at €2 million, with first deliveries expected in late 2020.

Subsequent models will be produced in a new factory to be built in Italy. These models will be based on a modular platform that Pininfarina is developing with its partners: an SUV, sedan, coupe and convertible are planned; a concept previewing the SUV will be unveiled this summer.
