The SCG 004 is the real deal, works on the track and sounds great.

Previously seen only in CG images, the 004 supercar by American Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus has been unveiled in metal and carbon fiber.

The car revealed is the 004C racing car, which completed its first shakedown test on Tuesday at the Cremona Circuit in San Martino del Lago, Italy.

There will also be a 004S road car and a 004CS circuit-specific car. The latter is a special version that can switch between road and race configurations. In other words, the car can be driven on public roads, but with simple modifications it can become a homologated race car.

All three cars are designed with carbon fiber monocoques, mid-mounted engines, and carbon fiber bodies. They will also feature a McLaren F1-style central driving position.

Currently, the 004C meets the SPX-class specifications required for the 24 Hours of Nürburgring race weekend starting May 23 this year, but will eventually be developed to meet GT3 specifications. GTE and GT4 versions will also be developed if there is sufficient demand.

The 004C's power comes from a naturally aspirated V-8 developed by Italy's Autotechnica Motori. This engine is related to the LT4 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 engine found in the C7 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and was chosen as the base because of its relatively small size and low center of gravity.

Meanwhile, another Italian firm, Podium Advanced Technologies, helped engineer the rest of the car. The same company also helped with SCG's Glickenhaus 007 Le Mans Hypercar program.

As for the 004S, it will be powered by a supercharged V-8 with approximately 680 hp. Production will begin shortly, with the 2020 allotment already filled and the 2021 allotment rapidly filling up. Production will take place at the former Highcroft Racing facility in Danbury, Connecticut, and SCG's goal is to produce the 004 supercar at a rate of 100 units per year.
