The Pagani Waira Imola is $5 million and 827 hp of insanity.

Pagani commissioned Russian tuning firm TopCar Design to unveil the hardcore Huayra, nicknamed the Dragon, for 2019.

It turns out that the car is not a one-off, but the first of five cars in a new variant known as the Huayra Imola. The name, commonly referred to as Imola (due to its proximity to the town of Imola, Italy), comes from the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari racetrack, where the bulk of the development of the new Pagani took place.

Like Ferrari's XX program, Huayra Imola is a rolling test bed for future technologies, some of which may be incorporated into Huayra's successor. Customers are also involved in the development of the Huayra Imola, another strategy borrowed from Ferrari's XX program. [The 6.0-liter V12 twin turbo is mated to a 7-speed sequential transmission and tuned to deliver 827 hp of maximum output and 811 hp of maximum torque. And the car's weight was reduced to a dry weight of 2,747 pounds. Pagani's engineers were meticulous and developed a new paint finish that alone reduced the weight by 11 pounds.

One of the most significant changes to the body was the front clip. The inverted V-shape normally seen on the Huayra was eliminated in favor of an integrated design. The hood also has a new scoop at the V-shaped crease. On the sides, the air intakes have been increased to reveal aggressive side skirts. The rear features a modified spoiler.

Another highlight of the Huayra Imola is the suspension. Engineers revised the geometry to make the car more stable under hard acceleration and braking. The car also features active dampers and a front lift system.

Other upgrades include an optimized Brembo brake package and custom-made Pirelli Trofeo R tires.

Just five Pagani Wira Imola will be built, each starting at 5 million euros ($5.4 million). All of them have already been sold.
