Subaru will unveil the new Levorg STI Sport at the 2020 Tokyo Motor Show.

Subaru previewed the redesigned Levogue STI Sport at last weekend's Tokyo Auto Salon.

The Levogue is a compact wagon related to the Impreza and sold outside the U.S. Its STI Sport variant offers a 2.0-liter turbocharged flat-4 that delivers 296 hp. All-wheel drive is naturally equipped as well.

The current Levorg has been on sale since 2014, but a new generation will soon arrive. The new design was heralded last October by the Levorg Prototype. The Levorg Prototype STI Sport, which was unveiled over the weekend, is a preview of the car's STI Sport variant.

Subaru has not revealed details, but revealed that the Levorg Prototype STI Sport is equipped with adjustable dampers that the driver can control with the drive mode selector. The drive mode selector also controls the characteristics of the powertrain, steering, and all-wheel drive system.

Subaru did not specify what kind of powertrain lurks under the hood, but it is most likely an enhanced version of the new 1.8-liter turbo flat-4 that was featured in the Levorg prototype unveiled last October. This engine is expected to replace Subaru's recently discontinued EJ20 engine family, which has been used in several generations of the WRX, including the current model.

Subaru has not revealed a debut date for the redesigned Levorg, but it will likely arrive later this year. Unfortunately, it is unlikely to be introduced in the U.S. due to the U.S. focus on crossovers.
