A sinister Ford F100 with the heart of a Mustang Shelby GT350 is up for auction

Barrett-Jackson's annual collector car auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, began last weekend, and one of the highlights is this custom 1956 Ford F100, which will go off the block without reserve on Saturday.

What makes this sinister-looking pickup truck so special is what lurks under the hood. The owner has a Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 with a 5.2-liter V-8 engine.

This engine sounds meaner than stock thanks to the Kooks exhaust system and is mated to the same six-speed manual transmission as the GT350. Numerous other parts appropriated from muscle cars help transfer power to the ground, along with a custom box chassis and a circuit-tuned suspension system.

Beyond the mechanicals, the truck is a thing of beauty thanks to the satin black paint finish, widened fenders (3 inches wider in the rear), front and rear LED lights, and stripped-down turn signals integrated under the cargo bed. The interior has also been modernized with a custom dash that houses Dakota Digital gauges, a new sound system, and a screen for the rearview camera.

The truck is listed as lot number 1276 in the Barrett-Jackson auction, which runs through January 19. Other highlights include the sale of the rights to the first 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray and 18 cars from Paul Walker's collection.
