Here's a detail of the $2.2 million McLaren Speedtail

Priced at $2.2 million and limited to 106 units produced, the McLaren Speedtail is a supercar that demands careful handling. This video shows how professionals detail this rare machine and apply paint protection film to keep it pristine.

The car appears clean but is thoroughly washed to remove any traces of dirt, grease, or oil. Rinse with lukewarm water and use foam and a cleaning solution to remove the dirt. Do that twice, then shampoo with a lambswool mitt and the two-bucket wash method (which detailer Topaz Detailing says helps prevent paint damage). Finally, a clay bar is used to remove any dirt that has gotten into the clear coat.

Speedtail then finishes the detailing with a two-step machine polish and applies film to each body panel. The film is wetted so that it can be moved into place, similar to the waterslide decals on model cars. The water is then pressed out with a squeegee to adhere the film to the body panels and speedtail carbon fiber wheel covers. Blow-drying will seal it tightly.

McLaren considers the Speedtail, unveiled in 2018, to be the successor to the legendary F1. However, the car's designer, Gordon Murray, presented his own spiritual successor in the form of the T.50 supercar.

Like the F1, the Speedtail has a three-row seating arrangement, with the driver in the center. It also follows the F1 philosophy of being a road car first and a circuit car second. McLaren calls this the "Hyper GT."

Nevertheless, the Speedtail boasts 1,055 horsepower and 848 pound-feet of torque from a hybrid powertrain consisting of a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 and a single electric motor. McLaren's top speed is 250 mph, 9.9 mph faster than Formula One.
