2023 Jeep Wrangler is releasing a special edition in honor of the Rubicon's 20th anniversary.

Jeep celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Wrangler Rubicon with special editions unveiled at the 2023 Chicago Auto Show.

The 2023 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 20th Anniversary Edition is available in two versions, the Wrangler Rubicon 4xe and the Wrangler Rubicon 392, both upgradeable with 37-inch tires.

The Rubicon 4xe 20th Anniversary Edition features the same plug-in hybrid powertrain as the standard Wrangler Rubicon 4xe, combining a 2.0-liter turbo four with electric assist for a total system output of 375 hp, 470 lb-ft of torque, 21 miles of electric range, and 49 MPGe.

The 20th Anniversary edition adds a half-inch suspension lift, which Jeep says increases water-forging capacity to 32 inches and ground clearance to 11.2 inches, 0.5 inch and 0.4 inch, respectively. The special edition 4xe comes standard with 33-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires mounted on 17-inch beadlock-compatible wheels.

Other features include a fine-tuned Jeep 7-slot grille, triple hoop grille guard, steel bumper with front winch mount, 20th anniversary badge and decals, rock sliders, Gorilla Glass front windshield, and front view camera, 83-piece tool kit with canvas bag, and black and red leather seats.

The Rubicon 392 20th Anniversary Edition is powered by the standard 392 6.4-liter V-8 engine with 470 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque and 0-60 mph acceleration in 4.5 seconds. The Anniversary Edition also includes the Xtreme Recon Package, which adds 35-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires and a 4.56:1 rear axle ratio.

Other features match the Rubicon 4xe 20th Anniversary, including a new grille, black and red leather interior, and a half-inch suspension lift. In this case, the minimum ground clearance is up 0.5 inches to 11.6 inches, and the waterline performance is up 0.9 inches to 34.5 inches.

Both versions will also be available with a 20th Anniversary Level II upfit by American Expedition Vehicles (AEV). This includes the aforementioned 37-inch rubber (again BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2) and AEV Savegre II 17-inch wheels, plus a winch, AEV 2.5-inch dual sport RT suspension with Bilstein 5100 shocks, 4xe model A 4:56:1 rear axle ratio is included. With this package, the Wrangler's exterior is also upgraded with AEV's off-road lights, front and rear bumpers, front skid plates, tire carriers, and jack bases from an aftermarket company.

These upgrades create "the most capable Wrangler ever," according to Jeep, with 14.2 inches of ground clearance, 37.1 inches of waterproofing, 50-degree approach angles, 33-degree breaker angles, and 43-degree departure angles.

Prices start at $71,380 for the 4xe and $92,690 for the 392, with a mandatory $1,795 destination charge; the 20th Anniversary Level II Upfit is limited to the first 150 units; $22,978 for the 4xe, $21,130 for the 392 Anniversary model for $22,978 (including a $995 "Upfit Logistics Charge"). All models will be available for order later this month.
