Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 Final Edition says goodbye to the V-8

Sterantis is in the process of phasing out the V-8 across its brand, and the next vehicle to bid farewell to the engine appears to be the Jeep Wrangler.

Wrangler currently offers a 470-horsepower 6.4-liter V-8 in the Rubicon 392 grade, and Jeep posted a teaser on social media this week confirming plans for a Rubicon 392 Final Edition.

The teaser depicts a bronze information plate that will be mounted on the inside of the Wrangler's tailgate and seen on the current Rubicon 392.

However, in addition to the Wrangler Rubicon 392 Final Edition name, the teaser's plate shows a unique design that includes a section dedicated to the 6.4-liter V-8 found in the Wrangler.

Dodge, also a Sterantis brand, launched several Challenger and Charger special editions in 2023 to mark the demise of these models and the V-8 engine. Similar special editions are planned for the Durango, beginning with the recently unveiled 2024 Durango SRT392 AlcHemi.

Maserati and Ram, two additional Stellantis brands, also bid farewell to the V-8 engine, with Maserati announcing 2024 special editions of the Ghibli and Levante, and Ram also announcing the 2024 1500 TRX Final Edition, also for 2024.

Like the other special editions, the Wrangler Rubicon 392 Final Edition will boast exclusive colors and special touches inside the cabin.

It will likely be unveiled in the coming days ahead of a possible debut at the 2024 Chicago Auto Show, which begins on February 8.

Expect to see a special Wrangler as a 2024 model; the 2024 Wrangler will also receive updates that add both capability and value to the popular off-roader.

Jeep also announced this week that for the first time, 35-inch tires can be ordered from the factory on the two-door Wrangler. The larger tires will be added to the Wrangler Rubicon and Willys two-door models when optional with the Xtreme 35 Tire Package.
