Lotus announces additional colors for the Eviya electric hypercar.

Lotus is almost ready to start deliveries of its Eviya electric hypercar. The first pre-production models are already being assembled at Lotus' headquarters in Hethel, UK, before production of models for customers begins this summer.

Lotus will build just 130 examples of the Evija for customers, each paying 1.7 million British pounds (£2.12 million) excluding optional extras.

Each customer is encouraged to use the configurator to find the perfect fitment for the electric hypercar.

This video shows some of the color options for the car. These are red (Atomic Red), yellow (Solaris Yellow) and black (Carbon Black). Also available is the silver color that Lotus used during its unveiling last July.

The configurator uses a special visualization technique known as "ray tracing". It shows how the Eviga looks in different conditions, allowing buyers to see exactly how the colors look under localized levels of sunlight.

The Eviga is Lotus' first EV, but the company isn't going to slow down: four electric motors develop a combined 1,973 hp and 1,254 lb-ft of torque. This allows the Eviga to accelerate from 0-60 mph in less than 3.0 seconds, from 0-186 mph in less than 9.0 seconds, and reach a top speed of more than 200 mph.

Lotus is so confident in the Eviya's performance that it may have set its sights on setting a lap record at the Nürburgring for a production car. This would mean breaking the record of 6:44.97 minutes set by Lamborghini in the 2018 Aventador SVJ.

Don't expect the range to be great on the track. According to Lotus, the battery is rated at 70 kilowatt-hours, which at road-legal speeds would provide 225 miles of range in an EPA test cycle. The company also claims that the battery can be charged to 80 percent in 12 minutes from a 350 kW DC fast charging station.
