A prototype of a mystery Dodge Charger model has been spotted testing, which is likely the new wide-body Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye.

The Redeye option has been added to the 2019 wide-body Challenger SRT Hellcat, but the Charger was left out, even as the muscle sedan received such an option in 2020.

The latest prototypes revealed suggest that could change in 2021.

The only confirmed detail from the test car is a possible new hood design hidden under camouflage. It is possible that a dual-wing design like the Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody will be used.

In addition to the unique hood, the Redeye variant adds electronic quirks borrowed from the 2018 Demon model. The most significant feature, however, is the increased power of the 6.2-liter supercharged V8 engine. In the Challenger SRT Hellcat Red Eye Widebody, power is increased from 707 hp in the regular Hellcat to 797 hp.

With this power, 0-60 mph acceleration is 3.4 seconds, quarter-mile travel is 10.8 seconds at 131 mph, and top speed is 203 mph. Similar figures should be achieved for the Charger SRT Hellcat Red Eye Widebody.

Dodge is expected to announce the 2021 Charger model update this fall, and we expect more details to emerge by then.

The last we heard about the future of the Charger was that Dodge might introduce a new generation based on the current Charger platform, while adding electrification. However, a merger last year between Dodge's parent company, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, and France's PSA Group may have scuttled those plans.
