Rear-wheel drive Lamborghini Huracan Evo ready for drifting

Lamborghini is ready to run sideways with another rear-wheel-drive supercar in its lineup.

On Saturday, the Italian automaker unveiled the rear-wheel-drive Lamborghini Huracán Evo with unique design elements, a top speed over 200 mph, and a price tag of over $200,000.

The latest model based on the Huracán Evo features no power sent to the front wheels: the 5.2-liter V10 engine makes 610 hp, down 30 hp from its all-wheel-drive brethren, but through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and 413 lb. ft. of torque, no one will notice it. Top speed is claimed at 201 mph and 0-62 mph acceleration in just 3.3 seconds. And the car's weight? A mere 3,062 pounds. Braking power is provided by ventilated cross-drilled brake rotors hidden behind 19-inch wheels with Pirelli P Zero tires.

Although fast and quick, Lamborghini says the Evo is not about straight-line speed or lap times. The traction control system's sport settings are tuned to allow emergency intervention while the rear-wheel-drive Huracán Evo is running sideways or drifting. In Corsa mode (Lamborghini's version of race mode), the oversteer of the rear-wheel-drive car is adjusted to increase by 30%. The Evo's front-rear weight distribution is 40:60, making it easier to control.

The Huracan Evo features exclusive front and rear bumpers with vertical fins, framed front air intakes, and a new front splitter. The gloss black rear bumper features a new diffuser.

The rear-wheel-drive Huracán Evo shares an 8.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay.

Like all Lamborghinis, the Huracán Evo's option list is mostly limited by its bank account: it includes 20-inch wheels and carbon ceramic brake rotors; a new color, named Giallo Belenus (yellow), is a new color for the Evo and is given an exclusive interior leather color and Alcantara.

When the FR Huracan Evo hits customer garages in the spring, it will cost $208,571 without destination charge.
